Eleven days ago I featured a guest cat here. Well today I’m really deviating from past practice and will let a couple of dogs wish you a merry Christmas. Now these aren’t just any two dogs, because they happen to belong to President-Elect Joe Biden and his wife, Jill. They are German shepherds named Champ and Major, and if you click here you can view their holiday message.
I am so thrilled that pets will be returning to the White House on Jan. 20, after a four-year hiatus. The Bidens have announced they will soon add a cat to the mix, too. So if cats and dogs can manage to get along, perhaps someday humans can, too.
Oh, all right, here’s a photo of me after all, on Christmas morning. I wish you all a peaceful and healthy holiday and new year.

Dear Mr. Oxbow,
Thank you for your holiday wishes. I have heard that the shelters have been depleted of animals awaiting adoption. I hope that folks don’t abandon their adopted animals when they return to a post-covid world. A lot of folks have discovered the joy of unconditional love showered upon them from their rescued cats, dogs and others. You are a much revered member of your household. The gift of cat grass is an awesome gift. Your mamas love you!
