Move over, Spuds MacKenzie!

So last night some more members of Mama C’s family came to visit. I’m not sure what’s up with all the company lately, but I’m starting to enjoy it! Yes, once again I shed my hide-in-the-basement reputation and socialized with our visitors. I’m starting to realize that I’ve been missing a lot of fun over the years!

There is one drawback to my new persona, however. Being a party animal is exhausting!

We had a very special visitor this weekend, Grandma C. Now usually I’m not fond of visitors, but I blew Those Two away by hanging out with everyone and showing off with some of my toys. I even slept with Grammy!

I guess you could say things clicked and we had a special bond. Oh yeah, and all the treats she fed me helped, too!

Box No. 1 and No. 2

And now for the moment you’ve been waiting for! What was in those boxes that arrived yesterday?

Drum roll, please …

Yes, all my excitement was over a new toilet and accessories! Looks like Those Two really outdid themselves this time! Sorry if that sounded a bit sarcastic, but I was hoping for something a little more fun.

Actually, it was a pretty sweet gesture on their part. They explained to me the other day that we’ll be moving to a new house soon. They’re looking forward to a fresh start, and they wanted me to start fresh as well, literally.

Ah, the smell of adventure is in the air!

I am so excited! Two packages for me arrived this morning! Now I wasn’t the one who placed the order, so I have no idea what could be inside.

As a guy with only one front tooth left, I have to say I’m a bit nervous that they were sent by a company called Chewy. Still, imagine the possibilities!

And that’s just what I’m going to do until tomorrow, because as we all know, sometimes the anticipation of something is better than the reality of it!

Stay tuned …

Desk job

Well you’re probably thinking a tornado hit our house last night, but not to worry: it’s just Mama C cleaning out her desk. Whew, what a project!

Mama G frequently quotes this expression to Mama C: Clutter is just a decision delayed. Now I know Mama G sometimes thinks that Mama C isn’t really listening to her, and maybe this is evidence of that.

I’m just glad that I’m a cat and my decisions, delayed or otherwise, don’t involve any paperwork.

What is going on here?

There’s clearly something strange going on, and my walnut-size brain is having trouble processing it all.

Each day for the last couple of weeks, Mama G has been putting many of our belongings into boxes. The house is starting to look very different, and I’m not sure I like it.

Meanwhile, Those Two keep asking me something. I’m not sure exactly what they’re saying, but it sounds like,  “Do you want to be a connect-a-kitty?” How can I possibly answer, when I have no idea what they’re talking about?

I’ll keep you posted as to what’s going on, if I ever figure it out. It’s a good thing I trust them.

Picture of contentment

lounging

Humans always seem to be running around, stressed out about one thing or another.  I get the impression that they don’t know how to truly relax. Me? I’m pretty good at relaxing.

So here are some tips to get started on living the Oxbow way: Do a few deep stretches, find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, focus your gaze on something pleasant, and think about nothing but the sound of your own breathing, or in my case, purring.

That’s it! Repeat these steps in between meals and naps, and you’ll be on your way to a carefree, happy life!

Please hold …

phone 1

Sometimes a guy just can’t afford to miss a call, you know what I mean? I’m still dreaming of the day when the talent agency calls to cast me in the commercial for that new cat food! Man, the thought of a year’s supply of the food, the fame, mobs of girl kitties hanging around the house waiting to meet me! OK, it’s mostly about the food.

Aw, who am I kidding? No one is calling. Back to some simpler dreams …

A sign of flattery

20180619_171047

So Mama G was on a road trip this weekend and she sent me this photo. I was thrilled to think a sign had been erected in my honor!

What’s that? You mean it’s not all about me? How can that be?

One step at a time

Well I finally emerged from the basement ceiling today, even though the sound of chain saws, falling trees and wood chippers next door is still going strong. Say, weren’t those supposed to be protected wetlands where tree cutting is illegal?

Anyway, I’m still afraid, so I’m staying close by Mama G, although she’s even crankier today after only four hours of sleep. I feel safe with her, and that’s one of the great things about being loved: no matter what the challenge, love provides a shelter in the storm.

Speaking of storms, I heard there could be a bad one on the way tonight. If so, all bets on my progress against fear are off!
